Frequently Asked Questions
How old does my baby have to be to
join the class?
We
recommend that full participation in the class begin after
getting the 4-6 week postpartum OK from your
physician. Moms who
have the OK to walk prior to their postpartum physician visit
are more than welcome to join our group
free-of-charge.
Do I have to reserve for class before
attending?
It is best to register online on the
schedule page or phone 312-593-4521. This is to ensure we
have space for new attendees and that you will be notified of
schedule or location
changes.
What happens in bad
weather?
During the outdoor class months (generally
May 1st-September
30th) any schedule
changes due to weather will be posted at
www.bigbellyfitness.net/blog
at least one hour before
scheduled class. Classes may be
moved to our indoor location if the temperature is below
50 degrees, above 90 degrees, or raining one hour before
class.
During the indoor class months (generally
October 1st – April
30th) class will be
cancelled if Naperville School District 204 has cancelled
school due to
weather.
If you are registered to our e-mail list or have registered for
your free trial class you will also be notified via e-mail of
schedule changes at least one hour before class
time.
What if the baby gets fussy in
class?
Do not worry. Our instructors are
trained to keep the class moving and to help you tend to the
baby. We do find
that the babies get used to the class fairly quickly and if a
baby is fussy it doesn’t bother the other moms to let them
“fuss it out” a bit.
What do I need to bring to
class? We request that you bring a yoga
mat, small blanket or towel, bottle of water, and stroller (if
you’re bringing the baby).
Do you offer classes all year
round?
Yes.
Are Your Instructors
Certified?
All of our instructors are degreed in
exercise science and/or nationally
certified.
They have also gone through extensive training in
prenatal and postpartum fitness and hold specialty
certifications in these areas.
What if I have a pre-existing
injury or a bad back?
Let your instructor know of any
pre-existing injuries or issues. The instructor
will design exercises for you as you
recover.
What
should I wear in
class?
Make sure to wear comfortable exercise
clothing as you will be getting a REAL
workout.
Jog-bras are recommended as are good fitness
shoes.
When classes are outdoors make sure to wear
sunscreen.
Do I need
a special
stroller?
If you can push it you can use
it.
You do not need to have a jogging stroller to participate
in this class. Many moms do eventually
purchase a stroller designed for fitness, but you do not need
to run right out and buy one. If you are interested
in purchasing a new stroller we can even help you find the best
one for your
needs!
What if
my child does not like being in the
stroller?
This is rarely a problem as the design of
our classes keeps even the most active child entertained so
that mom can get a terrific workout. For
toddlers and preschoolers we do recommend bringing snacks,
toys, books, etc. to keep them
occupied.
Is my
child too old for me to
participate?
We have children of every age in our
program.
If you can push them in the stroller, they can
come.
We even have some moms who drop the kids off at school
and workout with us without the
stroller!
Can I
bring more than one
child?
Yes! We even have a mom who
pushes a stroller with 2-year-old triplets on-board (enough
said)!
What if
I’m not very fit right
now?
Our classes are designed to meet the
needs of EVERY fitness level. Whether you’re a
“brand-new” mom who has never exercised or a seasoned
tri-athlete, you will get a terrific
workout!
What if I
don’t see the question I want to ask
here?
Ask it on our “contact” page or our
blog….we’ll get back to you
ASAP!
